Simulation Methods for RF Integrated Circuits

ثبت نشده
چکیده

It begins by describing the unique characteristics of RF circuits. The basic solution methods of transient analysis, harmonic balance, and shooting methods are presented and contrasted. Small-signal analysis versions of both harmonic balance and shooting methods are covered. Composite methods are next. These methods apply the base methods in layers to provide dramatic new capabilities. The composite methods are divided into two groups. The first is based on a multidimensional representation of time. The second is based on sampling the RF signal and finding its envelope. The paper concludes with comparisons of the methods.

Modeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO

The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...

Fast Simulation Algorithms for RF

RF integrated circuit designers make extensive use of simulation tools which perform nonlinear periodic steady-state analysis and its extensions. However, the computational costs of these simulation tools have restricted users from examining the detailed behavior of complete RF subsystems. Recent algorithmic developments , based on matrix-implicit iterative methods, is rapidly changing this sit...

A MEMS Capacitive Microphone Modelling for Integrated Circuits

In this paper, a model for MEMS capacitive microphone is presented for integrated circuits.  The microphone has a diaphragm thickness of 1 μm, 0.5 × 0.5 mm2 dimension, and an air gap of 1.0 μm. Using the analytical and simulation results, the important features of MEMS capacitive microphone such as pull-in voltage and sensitivity are obtained 3.8v and 6.916 mV/Pa, respectively while there is no...

Introduction to RF Simulation and its Application

Radio-frequency (RF) circuits exhibit several distinguishing characteristics that make them difficult to simulate using traditional SPICE transient analysis. The various extensions to the harmonic balance and shooting method simulation algorithms are able to exploit these characteristics to provide rapid and accurate simulation for these circuits. This paper is an introduction to RF simulation ...
